Telangana State reported 169 new positive
cases for Corona virus yesterday, the highest number of positive cases reported
on a single day, ever since the outbreak of the COVID-19. With this, the total
COVID cases reported in the state has gone up to 2,425.
State Medical and Health Department in a bulletin also
reported four more deaths taking the toll to 71 in the state. Meanwhile, 36
more COVID-19 patients have recovered and the total number of recoveries also
rose to 1381.
The state has been witnessing a steep rise in the number of
positive cases since lockdown 4.0 came into force. The number of deaths has
gone up by 37 and the number of positive cases by over 800 during the past
about 10 days.
In the last two days, 286 positive cases were reported in the
state. Out of 169 cases reported yesterday, 100 cases are from the local
residents. They include 82 from Hyderabad while 14 reported in Ranga Reddy
district and two each in Medak and Sangareddy districts. Five migrants and 64
deportees were also found COVID-19 positive.
Among the 458 deportees, who were quarantined in government
centres, 207 have tested positive for COVID-19. Similarly, 180 migrant workers
coming from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Bihar have
been tested positive for the virus and are being treated.
Meanwhile, the ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) will be
conducting Sero-Surveillance Survey in Hyderabad as part of the survey taken up
in 13 hotspot cities across the country. Samples will be randomly collected in
five containment zones.
