Goa : The Modern Data Company, the enterprise software company behind DataOS®, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Goa to accelerate the state’s Swayampurna Goa vision through artificial intelligence. The collaboration aims to build on Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant’s vision of a self-reliant and empowered Goa, taking it towards Swayampurna AI Goa through the use of AI in governance and citizen welfare. Modern will work with the state to identify opportunities where its DataOS platform can help government departments make informed decisions, improve public services and respond to emerging needs.
“Swayampurna Goa reflects a strong commitment to self-reliance, inclusive development and citizen-centric governance. We see AI as an opportunity to take this vision further by helping the government better understand citizens’ needs, identify gaps in service delivery and make informed decisions at the grassroots level. This MoU aims to support this ambition with practical solutions that improve how public services reach people and strengthen governance,” said Sanjoy Roy, Vice President: APAC, Middle East & EU, The Modern Data Company.
Swayampurna Goa, conceptualised by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and launched in 2020, focuses on strengthening self-reliance at the village and community level, improving access to government schemes and ensuring eligible beneficiaries receive their entitlements.
The collaboration will explore AI applications in public service delivery, education, tourism and healthcare. These include identifying eligible households yet to receive government benefits and tracking scheme coverage at the panchayat level. In education, AI can flag students who may need academic support. Tourism authorities can use visitor-footfall forecasts to plan crowd management, transport and safety resources. Healthcare applications will focus on early disease detection, medicine demand forecasting and identifying emerging health hotspots.
“Realising the potential of AI in government requires the ability to connect information from different departments and put it to effective use. DataOS provides the technology foundation to bring this together and support AI applications that address specific priorities of the state. We look forward to working with Goa’s departments to take these applications from planning to implementation and build solutions that can be scaled to serve wider governance needs. This is how we see technology contributing to the Swayampurna AI Goa vision,” said Animesh Kumar, Co-founder, CTO & CPO, The Modern Data Company.
DataOS, Modern’s AI-native data operating system, will help government departments bring relevant information together and make it usable for AI-driven insights and applications. Designed to work with existing government systems, the platform will support the secure and governed use of information, allowing departments to build on their current technology investments and develop solutions that can be extended to other areas of governance.
The MoU will follow a phased approach, beginning with the identification of a priority use case and assessment of implementation requirements, with the objective of taking one selected use case live by February/March 2027, subject to departmental readiness and approvals, and laying the groundwork for wider AI adoption across government functions.
