Srikakulam: To make people aware, educate and sensitise about the various useful aspects of Nuclear Power, a special campaign under “Atom on Wheel” mobile exhibition was launched at Srikakulam district on 13th November, 2024. During the last 3 months of November, December, 2024 and January, 2025, around 64755 people were informed about nuclear energy through this innovative campaign. With the unique features and creative approach, the exhibition successfully covered the students, general people of various fields by visiting schools, colleges, community markets etc. of about 139 villages in more than 15 mandals of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram district. In the last month of January till 12th February, 2025, around 12904 people were covered and informed about societal applications of nuclear energy in 71 villages in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Parvathipuram Manyam district. The campaign got huge support and good cooperation from the students, women, youth, gram panchayat members, general villagers and other people.
As a part of this public awareness campaign, many educational films on the various aspects of nuclear energy and safety were also screened through in-house projection system and LED TV during the mobile exhibition. People were also made aware and briefed about the proposed nuclear power plants and various issues through creative leaflets and publications. Untiring efforts were also made by the team members to resolve the curiosities and doubts of the local villagers regarding nuclear energy.
In a coming week, the rest of the Mandals of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram will also be included in the next phase of this campaign to cover more and more people of that region.
