Thiruvananthapuram Division of Southern Railway is observing Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 from 27th October to 2nd November 2025. Vigilance Awareness Week aims to promote integrity, transparency, and accountability in public life and to reaffirm the commitment of public servants towards ethical conduct and good governance.
Shri Divyakant Chandrakar, Divisional Railway Manager(DRM), Thiruvananthapuram Division, administered the Integrity Pledge for the Officers and Staff this morning, marking the commencement of Vigilance Awareness Week, 2025.
As part of the observance, the Vigilance Wing of Southern Railway released Integrity Bulletin 2025, an in-house publication disseminating best practices, case studies, and lessons learned from vigilance cases and preventive checks. The inaugural event, organised by Southern Railway Headquarters and streamed virtually at the Divisional Office, Thiruvananthapuram, had Hon’ble Justice Shri P. Rajamanickam, Chairperson, Lokayukta, Tamil Nadu, as the Chief Guest, and Shri R. N. Singh, General Manager, Southern Railway presiding over the function.
In addition, three handbooks aimed at strengthening field-level vigilance and awareness were also released:
- Preventive Vigilance: Check-list for Civil Engineering Works – A ready reckoner for Officers and Sr.Section Engineers outlining essential parameters for verification during civil works to ensure uniformity, transparency, and accountability.
- Information Capsule on Allowances – Do’s & Don’ts – A concise guide on eligibility criteria, documentation norms, and preventive measures to promote propriety in allowance claims.
- Handbook on ESI (Employees State Insurance) – A practical guide on ESI compliance in Railway contracts, enhancing awareness among officials and contractors regarding statutory obligations.
A series of activities including seminars, quiz competitions, outreach campaigns, and pledge-taking ceremonies are organised across all Divisions and Workshops of Southern Railway during the week to reinforce the message that vigilance is a shared and continuous responsibility.
Vigilance Awareness Week is observed every year around the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (31st October) to raise public awareness about the importance of integrity in public administration and to encourage collective participation in preventing corruption and promoting ethical conduct.
