Vice President C P Radhakrishnan and Union Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah have extended their greetings on the occasion of the International Day of Cooperatives today.
In a social media post, the Vice President said that, rooted in the country’s civilisational ethos of Sahakar, cooperatives have been a powerful force in empowering farmers, women, and small entrepreneurs, strengthening communities and fostering inclusive growth.
He said that from their beginnings in the pre-Independence era, cooperatives have evolved into a vital pillar of nation-building, embodying the spirit of Sahakar Se Samriddhi and contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.
Mr Shah said that cooperation is the foundation of India’s culture, collective strength, and self-reliance. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the cooperative sector has gained fresh momentum and expanded significantly.
The Minister added that initiatives such as the Cooperative University, modern training centres, and the empowerment of cooperative institutions in emerging sectors are strengthening the resolve of Sahakar Se Samriddhi by empowering farmers, women, small entrepreneurs, and workers.
