Who Is ScoutOP? The Gaming Personality Who Revolutionised Indian Mobile Gaming, Enters Bigg Boss 20

Mumbai: For more than a decade, Tanmay Singh, better known as ScoutOP, has been much more than a competitive gamer. He has been one of the faces that helped build India’s gaming community, taking mobile gaming from a niche interest to a culture with its own stars, audiences and aspirations.

On Sunday night, that journey entered a new chapter as Scout stepped into the Bigg Boss 20 house, bringing one of Indian gaming’s most recognisable personalities to one of the country’s biggest mainstream entertainment platforms.

Scout’s Bigg Boss debut also brought together several worlds that have shaped his career. During the premiere, fellow digital creators CarryMinati, Fukra Insaan (Abhishek Malhan) and Elvish Yadav sent messages for Scout, reflecting the strong relationships he has built across India’s wider creator ecosystem.

CarryMinati looked back at having first seen Scout several years ago, recalling the early days of watching him passionately command his in-game teammates, while joking that the Bigg Boss contestants now had a very different kind of challenge ahead of them with Scout entering the house. The message offered a glimpse into just how long Scout has been a recognisable personality within India’s gaming and YouTube communities.

Fukra Insaan, meanwhile, described Scout’s move as going from gaming to a different kind of “real-life gaming” and spoke about how proud he was to see someone who has represented the YouTube community for years take on such a major mainstream platform. He encouraged Scout to play the game with responsibility, humility and warmth, while reaffirming the support of the wider creator community and his Panda Gang.

Elvish Yadav also congratulated Scout on entering the Bigg Boss house, cheering him on and encouraging him to make the most of the opportunity and “rock” the season.

The messages reflected the unique position Scout occupies within India’s digital ecosystem, someone who has been part of the gaming and YouTube community since its early years and has grown alongside it, while building relationships with creators who have themselves gone on to become major mainstream entertainment personalities.

The episode also saw Salman Khan engage Scout on his gaming and esports journey, including the earning potential associated with gaming, bringing the professional side of gaming directly into a mainstream entertainment conversation.

Scout’s journey began in PC gaming, where he competed in Counter-Strike tournaments before moving into mobile esports. He entered PUBG Mobile at a time when competitive gaming in India was still finding its footing, and quickly established himself as one of its most recognisable players, known for his aggressive gameplay, sharp mechanics and fearless style.

His impact, however, went far beyond his performance in tournaments. Scout became one of the personalities who showed a generation of young Indians that gaming could be more than a hobby. Through his gameplay, streams and personality-led content, he helped create a community around Indian gaming and showed aspiring players that they could compete professionally, represent the country, build an audience and turn their passion into a career.

That influence also extended to the international stage. Scout has represented India multiple times in global esports competitions, competing against some of the world’s best players. During his time with Fnatic, he was part of the team that won the PUBG Mobile All Stars India 2019, marking an important milestone in his competitive career. He later joined Orange Rock and was part of the roster that finished second at the PUBG Mobile World League East in 2020, one of the biggest international results achieved by an Indian team during the PUBG Mobile era. He also competed at the Peacekeeper Elite Championship in China, further putting Indian mobile esports talent on the global map.

As the Indian gaming landscape evolved, Scout evolved with it. He transitioned into BGMI, while expanding his presence through livestreams, gaming videos, vlogs and other personality-driven content. This allowed audiences to follow not just Scout the player, but Tanmay the person, as his career and ambitions grew alongside the community he had helped build.

Some of his most memorable moments have come outside competitive gaming altogether. Scout’s Dream House journey became a major moment for his community, with the house tour becoming one of the most-watched videos on his channel. For his audience, milestones like these became part of the larger story they had followed over the years, from watching him compete in tournaments to seeing the life he was able to build through gaming.

Today, Scout has more than 9 million followers across platforms, making him one of the most followed and influential personalities to emerge from India’s gaming ecosystem. His reach has extended into mainstream brand collaborations with names including Cadbury, Swiggy, Gillette, Monster Energy, YouTube, iQOO and Samsung.

“Gaming has taken me places I could have never imagined when I started. From competing internationally to building a community of millions, I’ve seen gaming become a real career for an entire generation. I hope my journey also helps more parents see that gaming can be a serious career and encourages them to support young people who want to pursue it with the right dedication and discipline.” said Tanmay “ScoutOP” Singh.

Scout’s story also continues through Revenant XSpark (RNTX), through the coming together of Revenant Esports and Team XSpark, the organisation brings together competitive esports and gaming talent, with Scout serving as its brand ambassador.

The crossover between gaming and mainstream entertainment has also become increasingly visible within the RNTX ecosystem. RNTX talent Vanshaj Singh has appeared in both Amazon Prime Video’s The 50 and Alliance, reflecting the growing movement of gaming personalities into wider entertainment spaces.

With his Bigg Boss debut now underway, Scout’s transition represents another milestone in that crossover, taking a personality who was first discovered by audiences through gaming and placing him in front of millions of viewers who may be encountering his story for the first time.

For someone whose career has been built around competition, performance and a deeply engaged digital audience, Bigg Boss presents a different kind of arena. This time, Scout is not competing on a gaming battlefield. He is entering the house as Tanmay Singh, while an entire gaming community watches from outside.
