Guwahati: Important G20 meetings will be held at several places in India’s northeastern region. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy gave this information in Aizawl, Mizoram. India will soon chair the G20 from December 2022 to November 2023. During this period it will host over 200 meetings in 55 cities.
These meetings are also proposed to be held in several north-eastern states. Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy said this during his address at the inaugural session of the 10th ITM for the North Eastern Region in Aizawl. Mizoram’s capital Aizawl will also host the G20 meetings. “We are planning to hold some G20 meetings in the Northeastern region. Indonesian President Joko Widodo recently handed over the G20 presidency to Indian PM Narendra Modi.India will host the next G20 Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi in September 2023. Reddy said daily direct flights between Delhi and all the eight states in the northeastern region are under consideration. He said offices of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) will soon be opened in all northeastern states. Reddy said the ITM aims to highlight the tourism potential of the Northeastern region in domestic and international markets.
