Workshop on Development Journalism organised in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: A one-day workshop on ‘Development Journalism‘ was organised on Sunday at the Kokrajhar Press Club, where over 60 journalists from Kokrajhar and Chirang districts participated.

BTC Executive Member Daobaisa Boro inaugurated the workshop by lighting the inaugural lamp.

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) chief executive member Pramod Boro attended the program as chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, Boro spoke on the role of media in development of the nation and the region. He said proper dissemination of information among the people is the essential for any scheme of the government to be successful.

Lauding the role played by the media fraternity in highlighting various issues of the region and brining to the notice of the govt and the world, he said the media has always played a very decisive role and expect the same in the BTC in coming days too.

He  suggested to the budding journalists to avoid negative perceptions and show people positive aspects of life and steer the thoughts of youth towards constructive trends.

The BTC chief also said step to provide group insurance to the journalist has already been initiated. He also said a journalist guest house will be constructed in Kokrajhar.

DIPRO Chirang Gagan Narzary and senior reporter Preetam Brahma Choudhury attended the workshop as resource persons and spoke on the topic.

Regional officer cum CHD, IPR, BTC Ansuma Mohilary attended as guests, President of BTC Journalists Association Jaiklong Brahma were among those who attended the workshop which was chaired by president of Kokrajhar Press Club Monalisa Sarma.

The workshop has been organised by Kokrajhar Press Club for bringing capacity building among the journalists fraternities.
