BJP wins historic victory in Guwahati Municipal Corporation elections, captures 58 out of 60 seats. PM Modi congratulates

GUWAHATI : {} In Assam, ruling party BJP has won a historic victory in the municipal elections held in Guwahati. The party has won 58 of the 60 seats here. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Assam Chief Minister Dr. Hemant Vishwa Sharma and where is it that the party has won a big victory in guwahati municipal corporation elections, the headquarters of north-eastern states. For this, I express my gratitude to the people of Guwahati. The BJP has been given zamindari again by the people of the North-East. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to all the people for trusting the party. While the BJP has won a big victory in the Guwahati Municipal Corporation elections held after a gap of nine years, the Aam Aadmi Party, which won a historic victory in the Punjab Assembly elections 2022, is once again a big good news for the AAP.

The Aam Aam Aadmi Party, which has been in the news for the first time in the Guwahati Municipal Corporation elections in assam, the crucial north-eastern state of Assam, has also won for the first time here. Aam Aadmi Party candidate has won one seat in Guwahati Municipal Corporation Elections 2022. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led alliance on Sunday registered a landslide victory in the 60-seat Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) elections and the party has won 58 seats, while one seat each went in favour of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP). According to the preliminary results announced by the Assam State Election Commission, the BJP (52 wards) and its ally Asom Gana Parishad (six wards) won in 58 wards. Three BJP candidates were already elected unopposed. AAP candidate Masoom Begum won in ward number 42, while AJP candidate Hukum Chand Ali won in ward number one by defeating the BJP candidate.

The main opposition congress could not open its account in the GMC elections held after a gap of nine years this time. A total of 197 candidates contested in 57 wards.The GMC election was held after a gap of nine years. In 2013, the Congress won the prestigious GMC elections, but due to internal discord many elected councillors shifted to the BJP, which helped the saffron party form a municipal board. Apart from the ruling BJP and the main opposition Congress, aap had fielded 38 candidates. About 52.80 per cent of the 7,96,829 voters exercised their franchise in Friday’s polling. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the BJP candidates on the big win and said that “I thank the people of Guwahati for giving a brilliant mandate to the BJP to build on the development agenda”. EvMs were used for the first time in the GMC elections and overall 52.80 per cent polling was recorded. A total of 197 candidates are trying their luck in this election.
