Cumin Co Enters India’s ₹6,600-Crore Pressure Cooker Market, Betting on Product Innovation to Reinvent an Everyday Essential

Gurugram : Cumin Co., India’s leading premium toxin-free kitchenware brand, today announced its entry into India’s ₹6,600-crore pressure cooker market, targeting a category that has seen limited innovation despite evolving cooking habits. Cumin Co aims to redefine the category with a first-of-its-kind pressure cooker featuring a patented three-mode cooking technology, tri-ply stainless steel construction and a multi-layer safety system, bringing together enhanced functionality, material innovation and intuitive design.

The brand’s entry marks a strategic expansion as it takes its health-first approach to one of India’s most widely used kitchen essentials. Rather than simply adding another pressure cooker to the market, Cumin Co aims to create a new innovative offering built around how Indian households cook today.

“The pressure cooker is indispensable to Indian cooking, yet consumers have largely learnt to work around its limitations rather than expect more from it. We see an opportunity to move the category beyond price and capacity towards a better cooking experience, driven by thoughtful engineering, better materials and meaningful functionality. For Cumin Co, entering this large, established category is a deliberate step in our growth journey and an opportunity to challenge conventions by rethinking an everyday essential around how people actually cook today,” said Niharika Joshi, Co-founder, Cumin Co.

At the heart of the new pressure cooker is a tri-ply construction made with 18/8 food-grade surgical stainless steel. Designed for even heat distribution, the cooker is suited to the varied demands of Indian cooking, from high-heat preparation to dishes involving acidic ingredients. It is all cooktop compatible.

The product’s key innovation is MaestroValve™, Cumin Co’s patented pressure-control technology, which brings three cooking modes into a single dial: Steam for vegetables, momos and dhokla; Cook for everyday staples such as dal, rice and pulao; and Express for dishes such as rajma, chole and meat. The Express mode is designed to enable cooking up to 30% faster, according to the brand. By replacing the need to switch between separate regulator weights with a simple dial, the technology aims to make different cooking requirements easier to manage.

The cooker also features a three-layer pressure-release system comprising a regulator, safety valve and gasket-release pathway. Additional features include vertical steam release, a caged valve designed to help prevent foam and debris from obstructing the steam pathway, pressure and lid-lock indicators, and handles designed to remain cool to the touch.

Practical details extend to minimum and maximum fill markings, a removable gasket that can be replaced without tools, and a common lid compatible with the 3.5-litre and 5.5-litre models. The product comes with a five-year warranty.

“We approached the pressure cooker as an engineering challenge, rethinking how it distributes heat, adapts to different cooking needs and communicates pressure and readiness. With MaestroValve™ bringing three cooking modes into a single intuitive control, alongside tri-ply stainless steel construction and a multi-layer safety system, every design decision was driven by a practical need. Our aim was to make a familiar kitchen essential work better for the diversity of Indian cooking, without adding complexity or asking consumers to change their habits. We believe meaningful innovation lies not in cosmetic upgrades, but in solving everyday problems through improvements consumers can experience in their own kitchens,” said Udit Lekhi, Co-founder, Cumin Co.

The product brings together functional engineering and Cumin Co’s contemporary design sensibility, extending the brand’s focus on material-conscious, thoughtfully designed kitchenware into a category that has traditionally prioritised utility.

Following  a more strategic retail approach, Cumin Co’s latest pressure cooker will be available through its direct-to-consumer website, followed by a phased expansion across online marketplaces and offline retail. The category entry is a strategic step in the brand’s growth, extending its focus on thoughtfully designed, health-first kitchenware into a core Indian kitchen essential and creating an opportunity to serve consumers seeking a more considered combination of material innovation, functionality and design. Pricing and purchase details will be announced closer to launch.
