Venezuela’s National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez has said that the death toll from the twin earthquakes has risen to 3,535, while 16,740 people have been injured. He said 17,854 people remain homeless. Mr Rodriguez said 6,462 people have been rescued so far, while 86,794 families have received assistance.
On 24 June, two powerful earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 struck the South American nation in quick succession. Multiple structures collapsed in Caracas following the strong tremors, which were felt across large parts of Venezuela.
