Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that today my heart is full of joy and happiness. On the Martyrdom Day of Lord Birsa Munda, the resolution and dream of renovating Kolgarhi is being fulfilled. With the restoration of Kolgarhi, a symbol of the pride and honour of the Kol community, its glory will be restored. Along with this, the glory of Teonthar will also be restored. He said that this thing for the renovation of Kolgarhi was brought to the attention by the people of Kol society in during programme at Satna. Only then its restoration and conservation was announced. Today this dream is going to be fulfilled. He said that along with the renovation of Kolgarhi, ghats and lawns would also be constructed on the Tamas river flowing along its banks. Along with the restoration of Kolgarhi, the history and pride of Kol Samaj will also be displayed here.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan performed bhoomi-pujan of the conservation and restoration work of Kolgarhi at Teonthar by offering worship with Vedic method and rituals. Kolgarhi, a symbol of the pride of the oldest Kol kings, built by the tribal Kol kings, will be renovated by the State Tourism Development Corporation with an amount of Rs. 324 lakh 70 thousand. The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of Teonthar Micro Irrigation Project.
On reaching Kolgarhi, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan was welcomed by Kol Samaj with traditional dance Koldahka to the tune of Gudum. The Chief Minister offered flowers on the pictures of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Mata Shabri and also visited the Kolgarhi complex.
Member of Parliament Shri Janardan Mishra, District Panchayat President Smt. Neeta Kol, MLA Teonthar Shri Shyamlal Dwivedi, MLA Mauganj Shri Pradeep Patel along with public representatives and a large number of people of Kol community were present.
