Govt will do everything possible to help panic-stricken customers in PMC Bank issue: Anurag Thakur

Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Thakur has said that the government will do everything possible to help the panic-stricken customers in the Punjab And Maharashtra Co-operative(PMC) Bank issue. He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of Gold Economic Forum in New Delhi today.

The Minister said that he has spoken to many people in this regard including those who are affected by RBI’s order. The government is looking into PMC bank issue and will take all necessary actions. 

The Reserve Bank of India has imposed regulatory instructions on the bank after reports of alleged irregularities. Earlier, speaking at the event, the Minister stressed upon the need for monetization of gold lying in households, religious institutions and others. Mr. Thakur said that possession of gold is very emotional issue for Indians. 

He further said to create awareness among people for gold monetization is the need of the hour and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also keen on the subject.
