Anakapalli: Granules India Limited, a leading pharmaceutical company headquartered in Hyderabad, inaugurated the transformed BC Government Boys Hostel in Parawada, reaffirming its commitment to improving access to education for underprivileged children. The initiative benefits over 100 students from underprivileged families across various villages in Anakapalli and Visakhapatnam districts, providing them with a conducive environment to continue their education.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Mrs. Vijaya Krishnan, IAS, Collector & District Magistrate, Anakapalli District (Andhra Pradesh), and Mrs. Uma Chigurupati, Executive Director of Granules India Limited, along with other key government officials.
Children aged between 9 and 15 years residing in the hostel now have access to clean, safe, and dignified living spaces that support their learning journey. As part of the project, education kits comprising school bags and books were distributed to the students to further enable a focused academic experience.
“Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream regardless of where they come from. At Granules, we see education as a cornerstone of inclusive progress. By transforming this hostel, we’re creating a safe, dignified space that nurtures both academic focus and self-belief. This initiative is a small but meaningful step in our larger commitment to building healthier, more empowered communities,” said Ms. Uma Chigurupati, Executive Director, Granules India Ltd.
The transformation project addressed critical infrastructure challenges and undertook extensive repairs to upgrade the hostel infrastructure. The renovated hostel now offers hygienic washrooms, a fully functional kitchen with adequate storage, and clean boarding rooms, giving the children a comfortable and supportive living environment away from home.
This initiative reflects Granules India’s broader CSR vision of driving sustainable impact in the communities it serves, with a focus on education, skilling, healthcare, and environmental sustainability as key pillars of its social responsibility programme.
