Union Home Minister Amit Shah has extended greetings to the nation on the auspicious occasion of the great Sikh warrior Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji’s ‘Sirhind Fateh Divas.
In a social media post, Mr Shah said Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji led the struggle against injustice, defeated the Mughals, and gave an immortal message of self-respect, courage, and the protection of faith.
He said, despite enduring countless cruelties, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur did not accept religious conversion.
The Home Minister said his life will forever remain a source of inspiration for the protection of the nation and faith.
Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was a great Sikh warrior and a commander of the Khalsa army who defeated the Mughals and liberated a large part of North India from oppressive Mughal rule and established the Khalsa rule in Punjab.
Sirhind Fateh Divas is observed annually to commemorate the historic conquest of Sirhind by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur in 1710.
This victory marked the end of the oppressive rule of the Mughal Governor Wazir Khan and led to the establishment of the first sovereign Sikh state.
