Idoru to host The Bombay Local History Society: Celebrating the Launch of ‘Once Upon a City’

Mumbai  – Idoru will host an evening organised by Bombay Local History Society, celebrating the launch of the digital archive – Once Upon a City on Sunday, 12th July 2026, from 4:30 PM onwards. The evening titled “The Little Stories of Bombay” explores the lesser-known aspects of minority communities and cultures.

Known for bringing together culture, conversation, and community, Idoru continues to evolve as a space where ideas are exchanged and stories are celebrated.

The evening brings together journalist, publisher, and author Meher Marfatia and local history chronicler, storyteller, and editor Shormistha Mukherjee for a conversation on the people, places, and communities that have quietly shaped Bombay’s identity. Marfatia, whose work has long documented the city’s hidden histories, will share the journey behind Once Upon a City, while Mukherjee brings her perspective on preserving local memory through storytelling.

Once Upon a City is a multimedia digital archive dedicated to preserving Bombay’s lesser-known histories, particularly those of its minority communities and cultures. Pairing written narratives with videos of the people and places featured in each story, the archive offers an immersive way to experience a rapidly changing city, ensuring that everyday histories and voices continue to be remembered.

With The Little Stories of Bombay, the bar invites audiences to look beyond the familiar, discover new perspectives, and reconnect with the city’s layered past – one story at a time.
