Kochi: Defending champions of the Kerala Cricket League, Kochi Blue Tigers, have unveiled a major announcement ahead of the third season of the tournament. The franchise management has decided to distribute the entire championship prize money of ₹30 lakh, earned by winning the title last season, as a bonus to the team’s players and support staff.
The decision has been taken as a gesture of appreciation for the dedication, commitment, and hard work of the players and support staff who played a crucial role in the team’s historic title-winning campaign.
The management also stated that the bonus announcement is a celebration of the pride and joy brought to the Kochi Blue Tigers family by Indian cricketer Sanju Samson, who recently won the Player of the Match award at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
In addition to its achievements on the field, the franchise is reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility by contributing ₹4 lakh towards the construction of a house for a homeless family.
The Blue Tigers Cricket Academy, launched with the objective of nurturing young cricketing talent, has already received an overwhelming response. Registrations for net bowlers attracted more than 600 applications within just 24 hours of opening.
Saly Samson, who led the team to the Kerala Cricket League title last season, will continue as captain for the third season. Indian cricketer Sanju Samson will play a key role in team building, mentoring young players, and overseeing player development.
Adding further strength to the franchise, Chris Gayle has joined the Blue Tigers as a Co-Owner. The franchise believes that Gayle’s vast international experience will serve as a valuable asset in the development of Kerala’s emerging cricketing talent.
Team owner Subash Manuel said that Kochi Blue Tigers’ vision extends beyond winning championships. The franchise is equally committed to recognising the contributions of those behind its success and making a meaningful impact on society. He added that through the ₹30 lakh performance bonus for players and support staff, the ₹4 lakh housing initiative, the Blue Tigers Cricket Academy, and the association with Chris Gayle, the franchise aims to make a lasting contribution to the growth of cricket in Kerala.
With the confidence of defending champions, strong leadership, and the continued support of the Blue Tigers Cricket Academy, Kochi Blue Tigers are optimistic about delivering another outstanding performance in the upcoming season of the Kerala Cricket League.
