Organ donation continues to remain a critical healthcare need in India. Thousands of patients suffering from end-stage organ failure wait for transplants every year, yet the availability of donated organs remains limited. Increasing awareness and encouraging individuals to pledge their organs can significantly help bridge this gap and offer hope to patients awaiting a second chance at life. Recognising the urgent need for greater public awareness, Zynova Shalby Hospital took the lead in supporting and sponsoring the initiative. Through its continued efforts in patient care, community outreach, and health education, the hospital remains committed to driving meaningful social impact beyond the walls of healthcare facilities. By partnering with IMA NEBS, the hospital aimed to create a stronger community dialogue around organ donation and inspire more individuals to make informed decisions that could save lives in the future.
Dr Kalpesh Shah, President of IMA NEBS, said, “Organ donation is a cause very close to my heart that requires collective participation from healthcare professionals, institutions, policymakers, and the public. We appreciate Zynova Shalby Hospital for taking a proactive role in bringing this important issue to the forefront. Such initiatives help spread awareness, build trust, and motivate citizens to consider organ donation as a life-saving act of generosity.” Skin, Eyes, Liver, Kidney, Heart, Lungs, Pancreas can be donated by a brain-dead person. Requirement of organs is quite high compared to the number of organ donation happening in India.
Reny Varghese, COO, Zynova Shalby Hospital, Mumbai, said, “Organ donation has the power to transform tragedy into hope and save multiple lives through a single selfless decision. Unfortunately, many patients continue to wait for organs because awareness and registration levels remain low. At Zynova Shalby Hospital, we believe that creating awareness is the first step towards increasing organ donation rates. Through this initiative, we wanted to engage directly with the community, address misconceptions, and encourage families to discuss organ donation openly. Every donor has the potential to become a hero for several patients and their loved ones.”
Arindam Joshi, 17 the youngest participant at the rally said, “this event helped me understand that organ donation is not just a medical decision but a gift of life that can give hope to families in their most difficult moments. The awareness activities inspired me to pledge my organs and contribute towards saving lives even after my lifetime. I will also encourage my family and friends to learn more about organ donation and become part of this life-saving movement.”
