New Delhi, 26 May 2025: Reaffirming its unwavering support to the brave soldiers protecting our nation, Punjab National Bank (PNB), the nation’s leading public sector bank, extended a financial aid of ₹1.10 crore to the family of martyr Subedar Major Pawan Kumar under its Rakshak Plus Scheme, a salary account scheme for all serving personnel of defence and related services.
The aid was presented to Sushma Devi, wife of the martyr, by Sanjay Dhar, Circle Head, PNB Dharamshala. The amount includes ₹1 crore under the PAIS insurance scheme and an additional ₹10 lakh under the PAI cover for death in cross-border firing.
Speaking on the occasion, Bibhu Prasad Mahapatra, Executive Director, PNB, said, “The courage and dedication shown by our soldiers are the backbone of our nation’s security. At PNB, we are proud to honour their legacy by extending timely financial support to their families. This gesture reaffirms our pledge to always stand by our defence personnel and their loved ones.”
PNB’s Rakshak Plus Scheme provides financial coverage in the form of personal accidental insurance of ₹1 crore in case of death as well as permanent total disability and air accidental coverage of ₹1.5 crore in the event of death. The scheme includes partial disability coverage and comprehensive benefits tailored to the needs of those in uniform.
