Rozgar Mela Organised by Thiruvananthapuram Division, Southern Railway at Thiruvananthapuram: 93 Candidates Received Appointment Letters.

As part of the 16th National Level Rozgar Mela, a grand event was organised by Southern Railway at Thiruvananthapuram today. The Rozgar Mela was held at the Rail Kalyana Mandapam, Thampanoor. Dr. Manish Thaplyal, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Thiruvananthapuram, presided over the event and handed over appointment letters to selected candidates. In total, 93 candidates who have secured jobs in various Central Government departments received their appointment letters at the function. These included postings in Indian Railways, ISRO, VSSC, CRPF, Union Bank of India, EPFO, Central Water Commission, and IIM Kozhikode. Among them, 54 candidates have been appointed in Indian Railways.

The event was part of a nationwide initiative, where over 51,000 appointment letters were distributed through Rozgar Melas organised by Indian Railways at 47 locations across India. The Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, addressed the newly appointed candidates via video conferencing during the programme. Participants at the Thiruvananthapuram event also witnessed the PM’s address through a live video conference screening. Officially inaugurating the programme, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi highlighted that many of the newly appointed youth have begun their service with Indian Railways today. Indian Railways is not just a transportation lifeline but a pillar of national development. India has now become the world’s largest manufacturer of locomotives and is exporting rail coaches and metro coaches to several countries. Wherever the newly recruited youth serve, their guiding mantra should be ‘Citizen First’, and their mission – nation building. The government’s Rozgar Mela initiative is a symbol of a transparent and merit-based system — truly ‘Bina Parchi, Bina Kharchi’.

In his welcome speech, Dr. Manish Thaplyal, DRM/Thiruvananthapuram, stated, “It is a moment of pride to witness young individuals stepping into public service, especially in departments like Railways, which touch millions of lives daily. Indian Railways is undergoing rapid transformation and modernisation, and the youth who join today are becoming part of this historic evolution. Your dedication, efficiency, and integrity will shape not only your future but also the nation’s progress.” The DRM congratulated all the appointees and urged them to approach their responsibilities with a spirit of service and excellence. While distributing the appointment letters, he highlighted the positive impact of Rozgar Melas in accelerating youth employment and contributing meaningfully to the country’s economic growth.

The event at Thiruvananthapuram was further enriched by the presence of several distinguished guests, including Shri A. Ravi Kumar, Regional PF Commissioner, EPFO; Ms. Beena A.P., Deputy Director, VSSC; Shri B. Saravana Kumar, Assistant Commandant, CRPF; Shri Leven S., AAO, IIM Kozhikode; Shri Deepak C., Assistant General Manager (Regional Head), Union Bank of India; and Branch Officers of Thiruvananthapuram Division, Southern Railway. Reinforcing its commitment to empowering youth and expanding employment opportunities across the region, Southern Railway simultaneously organised Rozgar Mela events at Palakkad and Madurai Divisions today.

Selfie booths were placed at the event venues and the new appointees enthusiastically posed for photographs with their appointment letters. The appointees expressed happiness about joining Central Government jobs and serving the Nation. They also gave positive feedback about the transparent, simplified and tech-enabled selection process.

Rozgar Mela is a step towards fulfilment of Hon’ble Prime Minister’s commitment to accord highest priority to employment generation. The Rozgar Mela will play a significant role in providing meaningful opportunities to the youth for their empowerment and participation in nation building.
