The agency moved the Court on Monday, seeking directions to the West Bengal government to cooperate with the investigation in the chit fund cases, and has sought to make available Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for CBI, told the Supreme Court bench that an “extraordinary situation” has arisen and sought urgent hearing. The apex court, however fixed the hearing for today.
On Sunday, a team of CBI officials were briefly detained after they arrived at the residence of Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar to investigate him in the case.
