Sensitization on Combating Child Trafficking held in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: A One-day District Level Sensitization Programme on Combating Child Trafficking to commemorate “World Day Against Human Trafficking” was held at the Kokrajhar DC conference hall on Wednesday.

Oganised by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) with the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and District administration, various issues related to protection of children like trafficking, child marriage and pocso were discussed.

Sudip Chakraborty  attended the program as resource persons and spoke on the subject.

ACPCR member Dr Pilu Hazarika  stated that the sensitization programme was held to sensitize the key stakeholders on basic indicators to identify children at risk, vulnerable children, and to combat child trafficking in the bordering District of India.

She informed that NCPCR is driving 25 days campaign in 75 bordering districts of India as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India.

She stressed the need for collective effort from all to fight the issue for protection of children.

The meeting was also attended by ADC Subham Aditya Birla, Kokrajhar DSP Punnam Pegu, chairperson of Kokrajhar CWC Malati Rani Narzary, representative from CWC, JJB, Childline, Labour office, Education department, NGOs among others.
