Mumbai: As Homegrown QSRs were seen expanding their presence rapidly which spiked up last year, experts opine that homegrown QSRs will take a bigger bite in the market with franchising leading their expansions. Data suggests that the Indian QSR segment will continue with a healthy growth and touch $79.65 billion by 2028. The $1.3 billion funding raised by Indian QSRs last year has fueled zeal of QSRs towards expansion beyond Tier I markets. According to Biraja Rout, Founder of Biggies Burger, the scope for growth and expansion of Indian homegrown QSRs is constantly growing and has spiked up lately as the QSR market is witnessing a spike in foodpreneurs from various sectors who are preferring to franchise Indian homegrown QSRs. In addition to this the spending of the middle class on fast food in tier II and III cities has increased by 108% since the last two years which has given added confidence for expansion in tier II and III cities too.
Biggies Burger, India’s largest and oldest homegrown burger chain raised funding for its expansions in tier I and III cities in India. Biggies Burger currently has 120 stores in 23 cities across 15 states in the country.
