New Delhi : UPES has entered into a strategic partnership with Samsung Heavy Industries India Private Limited (SHI-I) to strengthen industry-aligned learning through its flagship Work-Integrated Learning for Leadership (WILL) initiative. The collaboration, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding, will enable SHI-I employees to access structured higher education and skill development programmes designed for working professionals.
Under this partnership, UPES, through WILL, will offer a range of online degree and certification programmes across domains such as power management, oil and gas, logistics and supply chain, infrastructure management, AI/ML, data science, and cyber security. These programmes are designed to combine academic rigour with real-world application, enabling professionals to build capabilities while continuing in their roles.
The collaboration will also extend to part-time PhD opportunities, offering SHI-I employees a pathway to engage in research-led learning while contributing to industry-relevant problem solving.
As part of the agreement, employees of Samsung Heavy Industries India will benefit from a 20% fee waiver across programmes, along with flexible learning formats including weekend live sessions, recorded lectures, and online assessments.
Dr Sunil Rai, Vice Chancellor, UPES, said, “The future of learning lies in how seamlessly it integrates with the workplace. Through our work-integrated learning initiatives, we are building a model where education is not separate from work but embedded within it. This partnership with Samsung Heavy Industries India is a strong step towards enabling continuous capability building and creating a workforce that is future ready.”
Mr Ryan Park, Managing Director, Samsung Heavy Industries India, said, “In a rapidly evolving industrial landscape, continuous learning is critical to staying competitive. Our collaboration with UPES enables our workforce to access structured, high-quality education while continuing to contribute to business outcomes. This partnership aligns strongly with our focus on capability building and long-term talent development.”
The WILL initiative is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements by embedding education within the workplace. Through WILL, UPES aims to support organisations in building future-ready talent by enabling continuous learning, domain specialisation, and leadership development.
This collaboration reflects a growing shift in higher education towards flexible, industry-integrated learning models that align closely with evolving workforce needs.
