A 24-year-long wait for the gift of sight came to an end for 24-year-old Akib, who regained vision following a successful corneal transplant at Eye-Q Super Speciality Eye Hospitals. His remarkable journey became one of the highlights of a larger celebration of advances in ophthalmology at OphthaQuest, an academic conference bringing together leading ophthalmologists, surgeons, researchers and young professionals from across the country.
The event was inaugurated by the BJP State President, Haryana, who highlighted the importance of strengthening healthcare infrastructure, encouraging medical innovation and creating platforms that enable doctors to continuously upgrade their knowledge and skills.
From 24 Years Without Sight to a New Beginning

Born with severe corneal disease that prevented him from experiencing normal vision, Akib lived for 24 years with the limitations imposed by poor eyesight. Following evaluation by the ophthalmology team at Eye-Q, he underwent a corneal transplant, giving him an opportunity to see the world with improved vision after years of waiting.
His case represents more than a successful surgical intervention—it highlights how corneal transplantation can restore meaningful vision in patients who have lived with corneal blindness or severe visual impairment for years.
