Ahmedabad: Delhi Public School- Bopal, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with zest and patriotic fervour on the morning of 15 August 2026, offering a glorious and nationalistic tribute to India’s inspiring journey to freedom.
This event began with a traditional welcome to the gathering, which was followed by Flag Hoisting and the National Anthem. As the venerable Tricolour unfurled and soared high, the National Anthem reverberated across the Academic Courtyard, filling every heart with great pride, zeal and unity. The Parade Captain then invited the Special Guests Colonel Prashant Sankpal, Commanding Officer in the Rapid Provost Unit (Military Police), Ahmedabad and Mr. Hardik Thakor, Assistant Municipal Commissioner, Ahmedabad, to inspect the Parade. They were joined by the Principal, Ms. Sabina Sawhney to hoist the National Flag.
The students presented an immaculate march past, which was an inspiring display of reverence, self-discipline and synchronization.
In her address, Principal, Ms. Sabina Sawhney, reminded to be grateful of our freedom fighters & soldiers as well as our parents & teachers. She urged the students to take care of their health & fitness to serve the nation.
The cultural programme commenced with an inspiring & melodious patriotic song ‘Bhavatu Bharatam’, which had the audience humming. This was followed by a Hindi article ‘Swatantrata Divas’, which was both informative and thought-provoking. The most eagerly awaited event was a mesmerizing dance performance titled ‘Non-Stop India’ by the talented and energetic students of the school. These children, inspired by an urge to excel, had the audience spellbound by the display of colours and various dance formations. Everyone in the audience could feel a wave of fervent nationalistic spirit filling the air. This was teamwork at its best.
In his motivating speech, the Special Guest Colonel Sankpal encouraged the students to believe in themselves and work hard. Mr. Thakor highlighted the importance of planting at least one tree and nurturing it.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by the Head Boy & Head Girl.
After the ceremony, the students and teachers proceeded to their respective classrooms, where they were served sweets. This way, the programme ended aptly on a sweet note.
The 80th Independence Day celebration was a reminder that the present generation should never forget the extraordinary sacrifices made by our freedom fighters, and the most fitting tribute to them would be to strive towards a sustainable & healthy nation.
