The Dubai showcase, held on September 11–12 at Sky View Restaurant, brought together Sehgal’s art practice, ArtBySehgal, and his contemporary streetwear label CODEBRWN, creating an intersection of art, fashion and Indian cultural influences. The showcase offered collectors, creatives and design enthusiasts an opportunity to experience his visual universe beyond the traditional gallery format.
Following Dubai, Sehgal presented his latest body of work through a solo show in San Francisco from September 18–20, further expanding his presence within the international contemporary art landscape. The exhibition explored his signature surrealist language, drawing from Indian culture, personal experiences and contemporary visual narratives.
Speaking about the international showcases, Abhay Sehgal says, “For me, taking the work from India to Dubai and San Francisco feels like an important moment in my journey as an artist. I’ve always believed that art can travel beyond geography because emotions and stories are universal. Seeing audiences from different cultural backgrounds experience my work has been incredibly rewarding, and it has also made me look at my own practice with a new perspective.”
A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Sehgal works across painting, illustration and mixed media, often bringing together surreal imagery, cultural references and themes of identity and the subconscious.
With Dubai and San Francisco marking two distinct international chapters, Sehgal continues to explore how Indian visual narratives can evolve, travel and find new interpretations across global creative communities.
