Anantham Mind Studio with Sattva Foundation to host Panel Discussion on Mental Health in New Delhi on Oct 14

New Delhi: “Mental health…is not a destination, but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going” says Professor Dr Noam Shpancer, the  renowned psychologist from Ohio, USA. According to Dr. Darleen Dempster, the world famous clinical mental health scientist “When in a state of good mental health, a person has a general positive outlook, can accomplish daily tasks, maintain relationships and engage in meaningful recreation.”

To impress upon the importance of Mental Health for a cheerful and productive life Anantham Mind Studio, in association with Sattva Foundation is organizing a Panel Discussion on Tracking Footprints in Mental Wellbeing –Workplace mental health importance. The decade-old Anantham Mind Studio has been conducting sessions to create awareness on the need of mental fitness. Aparna Sharma, Founder Director of the Mind Studio, an Integrative Intervention Therapist, believes that mental health is as vital as physical health.

“Mental health is a state of mental well-being. Mental health is important because it can help you to: Cope with the stresses of life. Be physically healthy. Have good relationships,” says Ms Sharm. She firmly believes “there is great need for awareness on Mental Health among all sections of the society. “Mental health awareness is important in India due to the high rate of mental health issues and the lack of access to resources and support. At least 6.5 % of India’s population suffers from some form of serious mental illness.”

She said the Panel Discussion was part of a “serious effort to promote mental health” and she hopes “the programme will take effective initiatives in the coming days to spread awareness and prepare the popular platform for a massive movement in mental health care . Sattva Foundation and Anantham Mind studio join together for the purpose to bring mental health inclusive in Public health Domain.”

The Panel Discussion, she said “intended to address mental issues relating to the workplace in general and the mental health issues both at professional and personal space.”

Eminent mental health experts, Dr. A N Jha, DIG, Training –Railway Protection Force, Swapnasundari , Founder Vilasini Natyam, Brig.Rajiv Williams,  CSR Advisor and Consultant, Dr.Anuradha Choudry, Coordinator IKS, MoE  will deliberate on the topic.

Ms Sharma said that the system of integrative practices has vanished from routine life, crippling us from the emotional intelligence quotient bar. Traditionally, we are concerned with the self as an ontological being. The primary importance must be given to our traditional practices thus making east and west as contrasting and complementing. Thus, we propose diversity as a logical angle to intellectualize and conceptualize as more towards holistic and comprehensive concepts. Mental wellbeing needs primary focus in all spheres of life. It should begin from the holistic school curriculum and education and be available as a help system at workplace mandate without prejudice.

She has also urged “Corporates, institutions and other entities to come forward to join hands with Sattva Foundation to change the narratives by filling the deficit at their workplace as well as at the grassroots level through education, awareness and build help the system holistically.”
