Annantaa Marks Stress Awareness Month 2026 with #BeTheChange Initiative

As conversations around rising stress, burnout, and emotional well-being gain urgency across workplaces, educational institutions, and society at large, Stress Awareness Month 2026, observed globally every April, brings timely focus to proactive mental health support. This year’s theme, #BeTheChange, encourages individuals and organisations to take small yet meaningful steps toward reducing stress and building resilience.

Stress Awareness Month has been observed every April since 1992, initiated by the Health Resource Network, to educate people about the causes, symptoms, and management of stress, while promoting healthier coping strategies.

In line with this global initiative, Annantaa, a pioneering mental and emotional wellness centre founded by counselling psychologist Madhuri Sarda and co-founded by psychotherapist Vidhi Bansal, is championing a shift from awareness to action through evidence-based therapy, clinical hypnotherapy, workshops, coaching, and wellness initiatives across corporates, schools, and colleges.

Recent studies highlight the growing urgency around stress and burnout. A 2024 report by The American Institute of Stress found that 77% of employees reported work-related stress affecting their mental health, while 47% said most of their stress comes from work. Similarly, the 2024 APA Mental Health Poll revealed that 43% of adults reported feeling more anxious than the previous year, largely due to increased stress levels. Further emphasising the concern, a 2024–25 Health and Safety Executive report noted that 964,000 workers experienced work-related stress, depression, or anxiety, with 1 in 4 employees feeling unable to cope with workplace stress. Additionally, a 2025 burnout report highlighted that more than half of the workforce now experiences signs of burnout, including exhaustion and disengagement. These findings collectively reinforce the urgent need for organisations and individuals to prioritise mental and emotional well-being.

Sharing her thoughts, Ms. Madhuri Sarda, Counselling Psychologist & Founder of Annantaa, said, “At Annantaa, I witness every day how unaddressed stress quietly impacts individuals—affecting their clarity, relationships, and overall quality of life. What was once occasional has now become a constant undercurrent in how people think, feel, and function.I believe awareness is only the first step. True change begins when individuals are equipped with the right tools to understand their thoughts, regulate emotions, and build resilience in a meaningful way. This Stress Awareness Month, my vision is to go beyond conversations and create safe, supportive spaces where individuals can pause, reflect, and realign with themselves. Through therapy, workshops, and wellness initiatives, I aim to help people reconnect with their authentic selves and develop sustainable ways of living and working.I invite individuals, organizations, and communities to join this journey—from stress to strength, from awareness to action—and truly embrace the spirit of #BeTheChange.”

Highlighting the importance of emotional well-being, Ms. Vidhi Bansal, Co-Founder & Psychotherapist at Annantaa, said, “At Annantaa, I often observe that stress is not just about external pressures, but deeply connected to our internal world—our emotions, subconscious patterns, and unprocessed experiences. Many individuals carry these silently, which gradually impacts their well-being and sense of self. My focus is on helping individuals explore these inner layers with compassion and awareness. When people begin to understand their emotional patterns and subconscious responses, they are better able to release what no longer serves them and move towards balance. This Stress Awareness Month, my intention is to encourage a deeper, more inward journey—one that allows individuals to slow down, feel supported, and reconnect with themselves. Through therapy and subconscious work, I aim to help individuals not just manage stress, but transform their relationship with it. I invite everyone to take this step inward—to reconnect, realign, and truly live the essence of #BeTheChange”

Common signs of stress include fatigue and sleep disturbances, anxiety and irritability, headaches and muscle tension, difficulty concentrating, and changes in appetite. If left unaddressed, these symptoms can evolve into chronic stress conditions that impact both mental and physical health. Stress is defined as a state of mental or emotional strain triggered by demanding circumstances. While short-term stress can sometimes enhance focus and performance, prolonged or chronic stress can lead to serious health consequences, including anxiety, depression, heart disease, sleep disorders, and weakened immunity. In today’s fast-paced world, stressors range from workplace pressure and financial uncertainty to constant digital stimulation and information overload, with experts noting that increased exposure to social media and continuous news cycles is further contributing to rising stress levels, particularly among students and working professionals. To manage stress effectively, Annantaa recommends simple yet impactful strategies such as incorporating daily physical movement like walking or gentle body stretch movement, practising deep breathing exercises, setting realistic goals, taking breaks from social media, practising mindfulness, and seeking professional support when needed.

As Stress Awareness Month 2026 continues throughout April, Annantaa reinforces its commitment to moving beyond awareness and driving meaningful action toward mental and emotional well-being. Through its ongoing initiatives — including stress management workshops, emotional resilience training, corporate wellness programs, school and college outreach, individual therapy, and expressive healing approaches — Annantaa is actively working to equip individuals with practical tools to recognise, manage, and prevent stress in their everyday lives. At a time when stress is increasingly impacting individuals across age groups and professions, Annantaa emphasises the importance of early intervention, open conversations, and sustainable coping strategies. By fostering emotional intelligence, building resilience, and creating safe spaces for dialogue, Annantaa aims to inspire individuals, organisations, and communities to prioritise mental wellness and take proactive steps toward lasting change. This Stress Awareness Month, Annantaa calls on everyone to take ownership of their well-being, support one another, and truly embody the spirit of #BeTheChange.
