Kokrajhar : A daylong Winter Session of the Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly was held today at the Council Assembly building situated at Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar.
The session, chaired by Speaker Tridip Daimary, started with a question hour when issues mainly related to social welfare, food and civil supply, road communication, transport, PWD, health, education and agriculture were raised.
The opposition member Jaytirindra Brahma of UPPL stated that the construction of RCC bridge across the river Karboja at Ramfalbil in Kokrajhar district was started in the year 2013-14 under PWD department Kokrajhar division but the bridge is still incomplete with just initial work one. The duration for completion of work is 24 months from the date of commencement of work as per formal work order. Brahma said there are many roads and bridges which were not completed even after 4-5 years.
Later talking to Reporters the BTC chief admitted that many roads and bridges were not completed even after 5-6 years of starting. He said the contractors have taken work order and done tender agreement but did not carry out the

Opposition member Nirmal Kumar Brahma raised the issue of unauthorized massing extraction of sand, sand gravels and gravels at Nangalbanga River in Chirang district without having authorities quarries which he said is causing massive erosion in nearby villages.
A one minute condolences was also observed to pay respects to eminent linguist Dr Pramod Bhattacharya, educationalist Karendra Nath Brahma among others who passed away recently.
