Sheraton Grand Bangalore Hotel at Brigade Gateway celebrates the rich culinary heritage of Coorg with a three-day celebration of authentic Kodava cuisine at its all-day dining restaurant, Feast. Taking place from 9th to 11th October, the experience brings the distinctive flavors and warmth of the Kodava kitchen.
The culinary experience is led by Chef Smitha Kuttayya, whose deep connection to Coorg is reflected in the dishes she creates. Growing up with the aromas of freshly ground spices, slow-cooked meats, and cherished family recipes, Chef Smitha draws from her Kodava roots to bring the flavors of home to Bengaluru. Her menu celebrates distinctive regional ingredients, time-honoured preparations and the warmth of Kodava hospitality, with each dish offering a glimpse into the memories and traditions that have shaped her cooking.
The menu features a selection of traditional Coorgi preparations, including Kaad Mange Curry, made with wild mango; Koli Curry, a classic chicken preparation; and Baimbale Curry, showcasing the earthy flavours of bamboo shoots. Signature dishes such as Onnkkerchi, made with dehydrated shredded pork; Meen Barthad, a traditional fish fry; Balekai Fry; and Kadambutt, steamed rice dumplings, offer a glimpse into the diverse culinary traditions of the region. The experience concludes with Thankbutt, a traditional dessert made with banana and roasted rice powder.
More than a showcase of regional cuisine, A Taste of Coorg brings the spirit of a Kodava home to the table, celebrating recipes shaped by family, tradition, and generations of culinary knowledge. At Feast, guests can come together to savour the distinctive flavours of Coorg and experience the warmth and simplicity that lie at the heart of its food culture.
