District Announces Open Serve, A Multi-City Badminton Tournament Circuit

India : District, the going-out platform, announces Season 1 of Open Serve, the first structured badminton tournament circuit, built for recreational and competitive play. Season 1 opens in Bengaluru on November 27 to 29, followed by tournaments in Mumbai Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi NCR and Pune between January to  May, 2027. Registrations for the Bengaluru leg are now live on the District app.

Each city leg runs over three days across 13 categories. These are open men’s and women’s singles and doubles; Masters 35+ doubles for men and women; boys’ and girls’ singles at under-12 and under-16; and two team formats, a 3v3 Super Cup and a Parent-Child Cup. Every draw begins with a group stage, so each entrant plays at least three matches before the knockouts. Open draws are seeded on each player’s tournament history, which spreads first-time entrants and experienced players across the bracket.

Open Serve Season 1 will offer a total prize pool of approximately ₹35 lakhs, one of the largest prize pools for a privately organised badminton tournament, with prize money varying across each of the 13 categories.

Rahul Ganjoo, CEO, District, said, “Open Serve is a tournament at the scale of India’s biggest sporting events, with a format designed around the players. Over time, we see it becoming one of the most sought-after events in Indian sport: a stage players train towards, where talent gets spotted, and one that academies and better courts can grow around. We’re starting with the stage and building outward from there.”

The Bengaluru leg will be played at District Racquet Club in Koramangala. The club has six courts in wooden and synthetic finishes, along with dedicated warm-up and cool-down areas. Outside tournament weekends, the courts are open for booking on the District app.

Between legs, players can book badminton courts for practice on District, alongside pickleball, padel, tennis, table tennis, football, box cricket, and more.
