Pune: Dnyaan Prasad Global University (DPGU), by Dr. D. Y. Patil Group, Pune, School of Technology and Research (STR), along with Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Technology Pune, inaugurated the QNX Everywhere Lab by Blackberry. The lab was set up in collaboration with QNX Canada and Pi Square Technologies, and marked another step in the two institutions’ effort to bring industry practice closer to the classroom.
The lab came out of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the partners. Its main purpose was to give students and faculty real, hands-on experience with QNX Neutrino RTOS, embedded systems, and real-time application development — skills that were in growing demand across automotive and industrial technology companies. Over 240 students from Dnyaan Prasad Global University (DPGU), by Dr. D. Y. Patil Group, Pune, School of Technology and Research (STR) and Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Technology Pune were already part of the programme, working on industry-sponsored projects with access to multi-user QNX licenses.
Faculty training had been an equally important part of the initiative. A Faculty Development Programme was held, in which more than 50 faculty members from different institutions were trained to teach QNX-based coursework, strengthening the teaching capacity around this technology.
Building on this, QNX Everywhere Industry Projects began, giving students a chance to work on live industry problems rather than only classroom exercises. Once their projects were reviewed and verified by the Pi Square Technologies team, students became eligible for QNX Certification, a credential recognised across the industry.
The QNX Everywhere Lab now functions as a permanent space for practical learning, project work, and innovation on campus, helping students build stronger, job-ready skills in embedded systems, real-time operating systems, and automotive software.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Somnath P. Patil, Pro Chancellor, Dnyaan Prasad Global University (DPGU), by Dr. D. Y. Patil Group, Pune, said, “The QNX Everywhere Lab is a genuine step towards closing the gap between what students learn and what the industry actually needs. Real-time systems and embedded technology are shaping the future of automotive and industrial engineering, and it is important that our students get to work with these tools early, not just read about them in textbooks. We are thankful to QNX Canada and Pi Square Technologies for partnering with us, and confident that this lab will open up new opportunities for our students in terms of skills, certification, and career readiness.”
“The QNX Everywhere Lab is an important initiative to help students understand how real-world embedded and real-time technologies are developed and deployed across industries. By giving students access to QNX technology and industry-led projects, the programme allows them to gain practical experience with the same tools and systems used in demanding automotive and industrial applications. We are pleased to collaborate with Dnyaan Prasad Global University (DPGU), by Dr. D. Y. Patil Group, Pune, and Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Technology Pune, along with Pi Square Technologies, to create this learning environment and support the development of skilled engineering talent for the future”, noted Mr. Veer Beede, Director, Engineering Services, BlackBerry QNX.
This initiative was part of Dnyaan Prasad Global University (DPGU), by Dr. D. Y. Patil Group, Pune’s larger commitment to experiential learning and industry collaboration, aimed at preparing students with globally relevant technical skills and recognised professional certifications for a fast-changing technology landscape.
