Green Gold Animation and Neemtree Entertainment Bring Iconic Indian IP Chhota Bheem to the Stage for the First Time with a Landmark Musical in Mumbai

Mumbai : Chhota Bheem: The Musical, the first-ever stage musical based on the popular children’s IP created by Green Gold Animation, will be staged in Mumbai on October 17 at Nehru Centre Auditorium. The announcement follows three performances last week that drew an enthusiastic response from children and families, with the live adaptation bringing the familiar characters of Dholakpur to the stage.

The musical follows Bheem and his friends on their quest to rescue Princess Indumati from Thunndazork, taking them through enchanted forests, underwater kingdoms, magical islands, deserts and icy mountains. The show features 30 performers, with a 12-member backstage team and six technical crew members. Produced by Bhoomi Nathwani and directed by Amatya Goradia, with Shruti Sharma as Creative Head, the production features character costumes, LED visuals and stage lighting designed around the different settings in the story.

The production features nine original songs, accompanied by choreographed sequences that carry the story forward. The music and dance are woven into the characters’ journey, while the costumes and visual effects bring the world audiences know from the animated series to life. The first three performances received an encouraging response from children and families, highlighting the appeal of experiencing the familiar characters and their adventures in a live theatre setting.

Rajiv Chilaka, Founder and Managing Director of Green Gold Animation, said “The real strength of an IP lies in its ability to outgrow the medium in which it was created. Chhota Bheem began as an animated character, but over the years, it has become a part of the lives of millions of children and families. Taking that world to the stage is another step in expanding how audiences experience the IP. As the Indian entertainment industry evolves, we need to think beyond creating successful shows and films to building characters and stories that can thrive across formats. That is how homegrown IP can build lasting relevance, reach new audiences and create value over time.”

Bhoomi Nathwani, Producer at Neemtree Entertainment, said, “Chhota Bheem has been a much – loved part of childhood for generations, and bringing these beloved characters to the stage has been an incredibly special experience for us. The response to the premiere run has been truly overwhelming and is a testament to the timeless connect these characters have with children and families. We are delighted to bring the musical back with additional shows and give even more audiences the opportunity to experience the magic, music and adventure of Chhota Bheem live on stage.”

With the musical marking the IP’s first foray into live theatre, Green Gold Animation is exploring opportunities to take the production to multiple cities across India, following its initial run in Mumbai. The move reflects the potential to extend the reach of the much-loved Indian IP beyond the screen, bringing its characters and stories to audiences through live performance, music and dance.

Chhota Bheem: The Musical will be staged on October 17 at Nehru Centre Auditorium. Tickets are available on BookMyShow.
