Honoring 387 Years Of Heritage: Grt Hotels & Resorts Celebrates Madras Day With An Exclusive Heritage Walk

CHENNAI – Marking 387 years of Madras’s rich history, culture, and legacy, GRT Hotels & Resorts officially joined Tamil Nadu Tourism’s Madras Week celebrations with a curated heritage walk through one of the city’s landmark historical destinations: St. Patrick’s Church.

The exclusive morning walk brought together hotel staff, select guests, media representatives, and digital influencers to reconnect with the historical roots of the city. Unfolding as an immersive storytelling journey, the experience was led by GRT Hotels’ dedicated in-house storytellers – or Sutradhars – who brought to life forgotten tales, architectural heritage, and centuries-old lore associated with these iconic sites.

Highlighting the group’s commitment to preserving local history, Mr. Vikram Cotah, CEO of GRT Hotels & Resorts, shared “Madras is not just a city; it is an emotion – woven from a tapestry of living stories, traditions, and a timeless heritage that shapes who we are. As a hospitality brand deeply rooted in South India, it is an honor to mark 387 years of this vibrant city alongside Tamil Nadu Tourism’s Madras Week. Our Sutradhars created this heritage walk to connect our guests, staff, and media partners with the authentic soul of Chennai. By uncovering the stories behind landmarks like St. Patrick’s Church, we hope to inspire a deeper appreciation for the legacy we carry forward every day.”

The heritage walk is part of GRT Hotels’ week-long series of cultural and culinary activations aligned with Madras Week, reinforcing the group’s philosophy of delivering soulful hospitality rooted in authentic local experiences.
