During the global pandemic IMS Law College Noida organized a master class on the subject of epidemics and English vocabulary for law students to learn new trending words. The Online class was taken by Prof. Dr Thomas Samson Dean Literature Department of English and Foreign Languages, Hyderabad University. At the same time, teachers and students of higher educational institutions of the country registered their presence with IMS President Rajiv Kumar Gupta, Senior Director Dr Kulneet Suri, Dean Dr. Manju Gupta, and Dean Law Dr. KS Bhati.
Prof. (Dr.) Thomas Samson said that in addition to the spread of infection in humans during the epidemic, the infection of language flexibility has also spread. Giving an example, he said that nowadays many new words like Covidi Idiet, Covid Tac, Covid Team etc. have been derived by adding Covid prefix in the language. Along with this, many war related metaphors have also been added like War against covid, Front Line Warrior etc. Words are something that makes communication easy but the right choice of vocabulary at the right time makes communication more effective.
While sharing his experience, Dr. KS Bhati said that the judicial system has also adopted some new words like virtual courtroom, e-filing etc. The availability of virtual courtrooms and digital filing can reshape the manner in which litigants and lawyers access them.
