Journalists Organisation Met Governor of Assam, Discussed problems of Media Fraternity

Guwahati : A high level delegation of Journalists Associations of Assam, JAA led by its President Dhirendra Nath Chakravartty, Working President Dalim Phukan and General Secretary cum National Vice president of National Union of Journalists India, NUJI Bhupen Goswami met Governor of Assam Professor Jagadish Mukhi at RajBhawan, Guwahati today and Discussed several issues relating to problems of journalists of Assam .The JAA members apprised the prevailing situation in the state and urged the Governor and ensuring protection of journalists at any cost . The journalist tem comprising Sabyasachi Sarmah, Sudip Sarma Chaudhury , Niren Chandan Goswami submitted a memorandum before the Governor demanding the journalists protection act , formation of media council , medical aid and insurance for all journalists families , Provision of Journalists Pension ,Allotment of Housing facility and land to homeless journalists on Seniority basis, Implementation of Wage Board, Ensuring Security of Service of Media Houses and Journalists , Provision of monthly govt. stipend to journalists, etc. The Governor paid a patient hearing to the demands of the journalists and assured appropriate action regarding the charter of demands as well as safety and security of the journalists . The Governor was invited to 13 tretriennial conference of JAA to be held at Jagiroad in Morigaon district on March 2&3 as a chief guest and he accepted it.
