Leading through the Changing World of Healthcare Sector

GUWAHATI : Indian Chamber of Commerce in association with Oil India Ltd organized a Weber meet on Healthcare Sector: “Amid & Post COVID-19: Leading through the Changing World of Healthcare Sector” on 29 th April 2021, with an objective to have a strategic discussion on the way forward for the Healthcare Sector during this Covid-19 pandemic. Dr. Subhash Khanna, CEO-Swagat Hospital, Guwahati & Chairman-Health Committee of Indian Chamber of Commerce-NE extended the welcome address and appreciated the continuous effort of the healthcare workers in this pandemic situation.

During his presentation he focused on the ‘’need of strategy for vaccination drive’’ and stated that ‘’more vaccine suppliers to be included’’. Dr Jayanta Biswa Sarma, Consultant Microbiologist, National Health Service, England has stated that ‘’Covid-19 is primarily an indoor phenomenon & hence can be controlled by building design with adequate vaccination & hygiene maintenance.’’ He also talked about ‘’Fighting misinformation- which are of strategic interest to Businesses’’.

Dr. Sarma requested all the private hospitals to work as team for providing necessary treatments to the patients. Dr. Rajni Kant, SCIENTIST 'G' & HEAD, Research Management, Policy, Planning and Coordination Cell, ICMR talked about ‘’India’s response to Covid-19 and Role of Indian Council of Medical Research’’. Dr. Subhajit Bhattacharjee, Sub Regional Team Leader-North East, World Health Organization shared his presentation on ‘’Building a Fairer & Healthier World-A perspective from WHO’’.

Dr Ajoy Kumar Sarma, General Manager, Oil Medical Department, Oil India Ltd talked about the CSR Activities done by Oil India Ltd during this Covid-19 pandemic and also shared the best practices followed by Oil India Medical Department. The webinar was moderated by Ms. Tarali Sarmah, Senior Assistant Director, Indian Chamber of Commerce and a summery was presented by her on behalf of Indian Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Satabdee Borah, Director & CEO of GNRC Hospitals Ltd, Guwahati & Co-Chair Person-Health Committee, Indian Chamber of Commerce-NE also participated in the webinar as one of the eminent panelists.
