Upgrading travel comfort for passengers, Southern Railway has decided to introduce modern Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches for Train Nos. 12678/12677 Ernakulam Junction – KSR Bengaluru – Ernakulam Junction Intercity Superfast, replacing conventional ICF coaches.
Train No. 12678 Ernakulam Jn. – KSR Bengaluru Intercity Superfast will run with LHB coaches from 20th June 2025. Train No. 12677 KSR Bengaluru – Ernakulam Jn. Intercity Superfast Express will run with LHB coaches with effect from 21st June 2025 (Originating from SMVT Bengaluru till 16th January 2026).
The revised coach composition will be 2 AC Chair Car coaches, 11 Second Class Chair Car coaches, 1 AC Executive Chair Car coach, 4 General Second Class Coaches, 1 Second Class Luggage cum Brake Van, and 1 Divyangjan-friendly Second Class cum Luggage Brake Van.
Diversion of Trains for Engineering Works in KSR Bengaluru Yard
Train Nos. 12678/12677 Ernakulam Junction – KSR Bengaluru – Ernakulam Junction Intercity Superfast will be diverted to facilitate engineering works in KSR Bengaluru yard for a period of 153 days from 15th August 2025 to 16th January 2026.
Train No. 12678 Ernakulam Junction – KSR Bengaluru Intercity Superfast leaving Ernakulam Junction from 15th August 2025 to 15th January 2026 (153 days) will be diverted via Carmelaram –Baiyyappanahalli – SMVT Bengaluru. The train will terminate at SMVT Bengaluru instead of KSR Bengaluru skipping its scheduled stoppages at Bangalore Cantonment and KSR Bengaluru.
Train No. 12677 KSR Bengaluru – Ernakulam Junction Intercity Superfast will commence service at 06:10 hrs from SMVT Bengaluru instead of KSR Bengaluru with effect from 16th August 2025 to 16th January 2026 (153 days). The train will be diverted via SMVT Bengaluru – Baiyyappanahalli – Carmelaram skipping its scheduled stoppages at Bengaluru Cantonment.
