Kokrajhar: Kokrajhar police have apprehended the main accused involved in rape of a 9 years old girl in Kokrajhar today.
Addressing Reporters in Kokrajhar today, Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Prateek Thube said the accused person identified as Raghunath Narzary, 60 yrs was arrested this morning in connection with the rape of the 9 years old girl.
The accused sexually assaulted and raped the minor girl on three ocassion in a remote village under Bishmuri police post in Kokrajhar district. The victim’s 14 years old elder sister was found hanging under mysterious circumstances two days after she caught the culprit committing the crime.
The accused Rughunath Narzary was absconding after committing the crime and a case registered against him.
The girl was produced before the Child Welfare committee Kokrajhar.
Various organisations have condemned the incidents and demanded punishment to the guilty involved.
Meanwhile, ltogether eight (8) people, including one minor girl who were trafficked to Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir with a false promise of providing a better job were brought back to Kokrajhar today.
Kokrajhar Superintendent of Police Prateek Thube told Reporters that eight youths, including two girls from remote villages in Kokrajhar were lured and taken to Srinagar with the promise of providing job there in April.
There they were engaged in various works against their wills. They later called up their family members following which a police complaint was lodged. The two accused –husband and wife- identified as Parbhat Kishna Thakur and Hailu alias Santi alias Reena Basumatary-of Dadgiri under Runikhata police station in Chirang district were arrested for their involvement in trafficking.
