India: Rajesh Pratap Singh has launched PRATAP HOME, a label of home textiles and objects, extending his design vocabulary from clothing into the architecture of everyday living. The launch arrives on the back of 29 years of the label’s legacy in considered, craft-led design.
PRATAP HOME carries PRATAP’s much admired approach into the homeline: considered form, tactile surface and objects made to be used. Singh describes it as the same thinking that runs through his clothing, with restraint, material and the work of the hand left visible. The collection also leaves room for experiments in material and shape, developed through methods the label is happy with.
The collection of Bed & Table features hand-quilted, block-printed quilts and dohars, cushions and shams with the label’s signature pintucks, jacquards, embroidery and block-print, and table linens that are embroidered, woven and printed. Hand-knotted and flat-woven rugs ground a room in texture, pattern and colour, while window sheers bring subtle pattern and tactility to architectural spaces.
Light & Objects offers candles, candle stands, custom lighting and chandeliers in metal, glass and wood, each balancing sculptural form with practical function. Surfaces & Wall Art extends the range into the architecture of the home, with signature tiles developed with FCML and curated wall art. Different materials, different functions, one language, made with the same commitment to craft as the clothing.
Speaking on this new label, Rajesh Pratap Singh said, “I did not design for a particular kind of interior. I designed for a way of living. These pieces belong in spaces that have room to breathe, where every object is there for a reason and nothing is there to impress.”
From the bed and table to the window, floor and wall, PRATAP HOME brings different materials and functions together in one language, made with the same commitment to craft as the clothing.
