President Droupadi Murmu to embark on state visits to Moldova, North Macedonia & Romania on July 19

President Droupadi Murmu will embark on state visits to Moldova, North Macedonia and Romania tomorrow. Briefing media in New Delhi, Secretary (West) in the Ministry of External Affairs, Sibi George, said the state visits, which will continue till the 25th of this month, are being undertaken at the invitation of the Presidents of the Republic of Moldova, the Republic of North Macedonia, and Romania.

He said that the visit is of considerable historical significance, as it will mark the first ever bilateral visit by an Indian president to the Republic of Moldova and North Macedonia. He said the visit to Romania will be the first state visit by an Indian president in over 3 decades. Mr George added that the previous such visit to Romania was in 1994.

Mr George highlighted that the visit reflects India’s growing engagement with Central and Eastern Europe and reaffirms India’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with the countries of the region. Mr George said it also complements India’s broader engagement with Europe and its strategic partnership with the European Union.
