A deck of cards has taken over Mumbai’s streets, and the city cannot look away. Celebrated visual artist Rob transforms a prominent location near Mumbai’s T1 airport with a billboard unlike anything this city has ever seen, assembling hundreds of cards to create a striking portrait of Brij Bhatti, the Matka King himself, played by Vijay Varma, towering over the street and pulling every eye towards it. And it doesn’t stop there, the world of Matka King spills onto every corner of the city, with vintage cards wrapped in cards cruising through Mumbai’s streets, and bus shelters constructed entirely from playing cards popping across the city, transporting the streets of modern Mumbai straight into the heart of 1960s Bombay. And right now, all eyes in Mumbai are on the Matka King!
Created and written by Abhay Koranne and created, written, directed by Nagraj Popatrao Manjule, Matka King features Vijay Varma, Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Siddharth Jadhav, Bhupendra Jadawat, and Gulshan Grover in lead roles, along with Vineet Kumar Singh, Bharat Jadhav, Girish Kulkarni, Jamie Lever, Kishor Kadam, Cyrus Sahukar, Arpita Sethia, Sambhaji Tangade, Ishtiyak Khan, Sanjivv Jotangia, and Simran Ashwini in pivotal roles.
