The United Forum of Bank Unions has announced that the proposed three-day nationwide bank strike, which was scheduled to begin today, has been deferred.
The decision was taken following an agreement with the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA). In a social media post, the All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA) said the decision was taken after a meeting between the IBA and the UFBU, the umbrella body of seven bank unions, last night on issues related to the strike.
Earlier, the United Forum of Bank Unions and certain other unions and associations in public sector banks had called a three-day nationwide strike from 28th to 30th September. They had called the strike in support of two principal demands — implementation of five-day banking and withdrawal of the Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.
