MUMBAI: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Dina Patil held an exclusive meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to discuss pending development projects in North East Mumbai and seek the Centre’s support for expediting key infrastructure works and addressing public concerns in his constituency.
The discussion took place during a special breakfast meeting hosted by Prime Minister Modi, attended by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and seven Shiv Sena Members of Parliament. During the interaction, addressing our Newsman Sachin Murdeshwar, Patil highlighted several key development issues concerning North East Mumbai.
He briefed the Prime Minister on pending infrastructure projects and sought necessary approvals and cooperation from the Central Government. Patil stressed the urgent need to prioritise transportation, railway connectivity, civic amenities and other public welfare initiatives in view of Mumbai’s growing population and rising urban demands.
Describing North East Mumbai as a crucial part of the country’s financial capital, he said increasing traffic congestion, pressure on civic infrastructure and unresolved public issues require close coordination between the Central and State Governments to accelerate development.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured Patil that the Centre would extend all necessary support for the constituency’s development. He also directed that any hurdles in implementing development projects be brought directly to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), a move expected to facilitate faster approvals and execution.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister also urged MPs to utilise political power for public welfare and development while maintaining close coordination with both the Central and State Governments.
The meeting was attended by Shiv Sena MPs Sanjay Dina Patil, Omraje Nimbalkar, Sanjay (Bandu) Jadhav, Bhausaheb Wakchaure, Sanjay Deshmukh, Nagesh Patil Ashtikar and Jyoti Waghmare.The meeting is also being viewed as politically significant amid ongoing developments in Maharashtra and at the national level. However, Patil emphasised that his primary objective was to place North East Mumbai’s development agenda before the Prime Minister and secure the Centre’s support for expediting key projects.
