Mangaldai: Deputy Commissioner of Darrang, Dilip Kumar Borah on Sunday ceremonially laid the base foundation for proposed installation of a full size concrete statue of Koch king Dharma Narayan here on the bank of the historical Borpukhuri .
The construction of the statue reportedly of fifteen feet in height , one tone in weight and sponsored by local entrepreneurs group Debsons’ and company is nearing completion under the supervision of renowned artist and sculptor Biren Singha. The foundation laying ceremony was attended by many leading citizens of the district including veteran academician and scholar Dr Nagendra Nath Sharma , distinguished writer Idris Ali , senior director of Debsons’ and company Dr Amarendra Narayan Deb , chairman Mangaldai Development Authority, Pratap Bordoloi, former minister Basanta Das, former MP Madhab Rajbongshi among others .
