Mumbai : Target Learning Ventures Pvt. Ltd., a leading publisher and educational solutions provider, organised a workshop on ‘NEP 2020 Implementation in School Education’ for secondary section teachers at P J Pancholia High School, Kandivali. The session was led by Dr Hema Bhadawkar, Associate Professor at K J Somaiya School of Education, who discussed practical ways to translate the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 into everyday classroom practices without placing additional work on teachers.
The workshop focused on bridging the gap between policy recommendations and their application in schools, particularly in the context of SSC Board teaching. It examined how changes in curriculum design, instructional methods and assessment can encourage deeper understanding, independent thinking and the development of essential competencies among students.
Dr Bhadawkar outlined five key shifts planned under NEP 2020: moving from rote memorisation to conceptual learning, expanding beyond textbook-dependent instruction, transitioning from teacher-led delivery to learner-centred experiences, prioritising competency development over syllabus completion, and adopting assessment practices that evaluate understanding rather than recall alone.
The discussion also highlighted the importance of providing diverse learning resources, encouraging active classroom participation and connecting academic concepts with real-world situations. These approaches can help educators create inclusive, engaging learning environments while aligning teaching practices with the broader objectives of the policy.
Commenting on the initiative, Dilip Gangaramani, Founder Director & CEO, Target Learning Ventures, said, “Education must evolve with the needs of learners, and this begins with empowering teachers to make learning more relevant, engaging and effective. At Target Learning Ventures, we believe that content, pedagogy, technology and assessment must work together to support every learner’s progress. Initiatives such as this help teachers put educational policies into practice in the classroom, ensuring that the focus remains on understanding concepts, building competencies and preparing students for life beyond examinations.”
Through such professional development initiatives, Target Learning Ventures continues to support educators in adapting to evolving educational frameworks and strengthening classroom practices. The initiative reflects the organisation’s broader philosophy of bringing learning resources, teaching methods, digital tools and evaluation practices together to create a more integrated, learner-focused educational experience.
