Tata Projects Secures Landmark EPC Contract from GSFC for Integrated Phosphoric and Sulphuric Acid Complex at Sikka in Gujarat

Mumbai : Tata Projects, one of India’s leading technology-led engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies and a key member of the Tata Group, has secured a significant EPC contract from Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GSFC) for the development of an integrated Phosphoric Acid–Sulphuric Acid (PA–SA) complex at Sikka, Jamnagar, Gujarat. The contract marks an important milestone in Tata Projects’ expansion into specialised process industries and reinforces its position as an EPC partner for complex industrial infrastructure.

The proposed complex will comprise a 600 metric tonnes per day (MTPD) phosphoric acid plant and a 1,800 MTPD sulphuric acid plant, along with associated utilities and offsite infrastructure. A key component of GSFC’s strategic expansion and backward-integration programme, the project is designed to strengthen captive raw-material availability for phosphatic fertiliser production, reduce exposure to imported inputs and enhance long-term operational resilience.

For Tata Projects, the contract represents a strategic advancement in its process-industry business, further strengthening its capabilities in delivering technically demanding industrial facilities.

Rajiv Menon, President & Chief Growth & Strategy Officer, Tata Projects, added, “Built on sustained engagement with GSFC, the award demonstrates our ability to compete for and secure complex industrial projects through differentiated solutions and a compelling value proposition. As we expand our presence in chemicals, fertilisers and other specialised process industries, our priority remains to build a high-quality, diversified order book anchored in technical expertise, execution credibility and enduring customer partnerships.”

The scope of the project involves the integrated development of phosphoric acid and sulphuric acid manufacturing facilities, supported by the necessary utilities and offsite systems. Given the interdependent nature of these operations, successful delivery will require close coordination across engineering disciplines, procurement, construction planning and commissioning interfaces. Tata Projects’ integrated EPC approach will be central to managing these complexities while ensuring efficient project delivery.

The award further advances Tata Projects’ strategy of expanding its presence across high-value industrial segments, complementing its established capabilities in power, metals and mining, oil and gas, clean energy and advanced manufacturing. By strengthening its participation in the chemicals and fertilisers sector, the company aims to deepen its process-engineering expertise, diversify its industrial portfolio and create sustained value through technically differentiated EPC solutions.
