Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has directed the authorities to set up a committee of experts and researchers to discuss implementation of National Education Policy(NEP). The Chief Minister held a meeting on NEP with the concerned ministers of his cabinet yesterday.
The meeting was attended by State Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad, Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant, among others.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said that the state government will have to make many changes in the existing law for the implementation of National Education Policy as it has many new concepts.
Hence, a detailed discussion on the policy has to take place before adopting the necessary and mandatory changes in the education policy of the state. He suggested to form a committee comprising experts and researchers representing all the departments. He underlined the need to discuss the issues of technical education, vocational education, education in mother tongue, student oriented education among others.
He also directed the state education department to do all the necessary arrangements to provide education to all the students via offline and online platforms available in the state. He suggested to check the feasibility of new educational year from January to December with the Centre.
Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad informed the CM that the education department is taking necessary efforts to open the schools at least for SSC students in near future.
