Actor and women’s wellness advocate Lisa Ray has co-founded NuHer, a science-backed women’s midlife clinic.

Lisa has launched NuHer alongside a team of experts including Dr. Reina Punj, Dr. Kajal Parikh, Dr. Priyanka Mehta, Dr. Anuya Manerkar, Priyanka Kapoor, and Parinaz Agha to address the growing gaps in care and awareness surrounding perimenopause and menopause.

“For much of our lives we are taught just enough about our bodies to get by. We learn the basics in school, receive some guidance during our reproductive years and then the learning stops,” Ray noted. “Midlife follows, which is often the longest and most transformative phase of a woman’s body, yet it arrives with little structure, clarity or support.”

By 2026, India is expected to have more than 100 million women undergoing or post-menopause. Studies suggest that over 80 percent of women aged 40 to 60 experience menopausal symptoms including fatigue, sleep disruption, mood changes and hot flashes. However, many do not seek treatment as these changes are often attributed to stress or ageing rather than hormonal transition.

“What struck me most was the silence. Symptoms are minimised, conversations avoided and a profound biological shift is treated as something to endure rather than understand. NuHer was created to help bring clarity and credible guidance to this stage of life,” Ray added.

For many women, menopause is a transition that can last more than a decade. The decline in estrogen and progesterone during this period is associated with increased risks of osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders and cognitive changes.

“Menopause affects multiple aspects of health, from metabolism and bone density to overall wellbeing. Understanding these changes and approaching them with preventive and holistic care can help women navigate this stage with greater confidence and better long-term health outcomes,” explained Dr Reina Punj, a physician specialising in internal medicine, endocrinology and functional health.

NuHer offers medical consultations, personalised treatment plans and guidance on nutrition, sleep and hormonal balance for women navigating perimenopause and menopause.

“Menopause is a natural transition in a woman’s life, but the symptoms can significantly affect quality of life if they are not recognised and managed early. With the right medical guidance, lifestyle support and personalised hormone care, women can navigate this stage with greater comfort and long-term health,” said Dr Priyanka Mehta, obstetrician and gynaecologist, MRCOG and member of the British Menopause Society.

Hormonal transitions during midlife can also influence visible aspects of health such as skin and hair.

“Hormonal shifts affect the body in visible and invisible ways. With the right medical approach and personalised care, women can manage these changes effectively while maintaining healthy skin, hair and overall vitality,” noted dermatologist and aesthetic physician Dr Anuya Manerkar.

NuHer combines medical expertise with wellness support and also includes nutraceutical formulations designed to support women experiencing menopause-related symptoms.

NuHer’s product offerings include MENOVITA, formulated to support symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood fluctuations and sleep disturbances, and MENOSTRONG, designed to support intimate health, urinary comfort, digestive health and bone strength during menopause and beyond.
